Cricketers from Jamaica
Jamaica is an island in the Caribbean and is south of Cuba, but west of Haiti. It is a large island, in fact the fourth largest in the Caribbean. They have a strong cricketing legacy and have their own Caribbean Premier League team: the Jamaica Tallawahs. Some of the West Indies’ best ever cricketers have come from Jamaica. Looking back in time, Michael Holding hailed from Jamaica along with the terrifying fast bowler Courtney Walsh. More recently, cricketers from Jamaica have included Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels and Andre Russell. They have been part of the West Indies’ white ball revolution.
In terms of infrastructure, Jamaica is home to Sabina Park which has a capacity of about 20,000 people. There is an exciting new breed of cricketers from Jamaica developing.
