Cricketers from Barbados
Barbados is a small island in the Caribbean, east of the Windward Islands. Despite having a population of close to 300,000, there are many Barbadian cricketers who are bright prospects for the future of West Indian cricket. In the past players such as Garry Sobers, Gorden Greenidge and Desmond Haynes were all cricketers from Barbados. More recently, captains Jason Holder and Carlos Brathwaite are Barbadians.
The island has beautiful cricketing heritage, including having the famous Kensington Oval in Barbados, the ground that hosted the 2007 World Cup Final. They even have their own Caribbean Premier League team: the Barbados Tridents. Some of the bright, upcoming West Indies stars from Barbados include the likes of Justin Greaves and Chemar Holder. Judging by Barbados’ strong First-Class record recently, the new generation of cricketers from Barbados are as passionate and as talented as their predecessors.
