Who is Prasidh Krishna?

An Indian fast bowler, Prasidh Krishna has featured for the Kolkata Knight Riders and the India A team. Playing for Karnataka domestically, Krishna has played competitive matches in all three formats. Born in 1996, Prasidh Krishna has a long career ahead of him and Indian fast bowlers are always in demand. In his debut First-Class match, playing for Karnataka against Bangladesh A, Prasidh took a five-wicket haul and his career has been on an upward spiral ever since.

Prasidh Krishna: Domestic Cricket

Krishna made his First-Class debut, playing for Karnataka against a touring Bangladesh A team. This match was played in 2015, when Prasidh Krishna was a teenager. Prasidh Krishna opened the bowling and produced a devastating spell of 5/49 in the first innings. He dismissed several big-name players, such as Soumya Sarkar and Nasir Hossain. In the second innings he picked up the wicket of Liton Das. Since then, Krishna has actually made his name with the white ball. While he plays regularly for Karnataka in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Prasidh is yet to represent his state in the Ranji Trophy.

Prasidh Krishna: Indian Premier League

Because of his youth and inexperience, the right arm fast bowler was unsold in the 2018 IPL Auction. His base price of 20 lakhs did not attract any bidders. However, Krishna still ended up playing in the 2018 IPL, coming in as a replacement for the injured Kamlesh Nagarkoti for the Kolkata Knight Riders. The Kolkata Knight Riders management initially asked Krishna to come and bowl in the nets and in some practise matches. Once Nagarkoti was ruled out, they thought that the fast bowler was a good option to replace him. Prasidh Krishna ended up playing seven matches for the Kolkata Knight Riders, taking ten wickets. His spell of 4/30 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad was his best performance that season. While Prasidh was a key strike bowler, constantly picking up wickets, he did tend to leak runs. Prasidh Krishna ended with a season economy of over nine, which is something he will no doubt aim to work on in the 2019 IPL.

Prasidh Krishna: India A Team

After rising to the spotlight in the 2018 IPL, Prasidh was named in the India A squad that toured England in 2018.  Krishna played in four List A matches against an ECB XI, Leicestershire, England Lions and the West Indies A team. He had a respectable tour and his economy was much tighter than in the IPL. He picked up four wickets in the four matches he played, with his spell of 8-0-48-2 being his best bowling performance on the tour. Overall it may not have been the most successful tour for Prasidh Krishna but he would certainly have benefited from playing in English conditions.
