Fabian Allen: Bio, Records, Stats, Facts
Fabian Allen: West Indian Cricketer
A jack of all trades, Fabian Allen is a solid middle-order batsman and a handy left-arm spinner. The Jamaican young gun made his first-class debut in 2016 when he was 21 years old. His career has rapidly developed, being selected to play for the West Indies B team in the Global T20 Challenge Canada. In that tournament he was one of the best batsmen, averaging over 40 with the bat. Allen has been part of the Caribbean Premier League for several seasons, playing for both his home team the Jamaica Tallawahs and the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
Fabian Allen’s First-Class Debut
Allen’s First-Class debut came in 2016, playing for Jamaica against Barbados. Allen impressed more with the ball than the bat. He only had the opportunity to bat once and managed 19 batting at seven. He then went on to take three wickets with the ball, but the match ended in a boring draw. Since then Fabian Allen has played in several more First-Class matches and has even notched up several hundreds.
Fabian Allen: Global T20 Challenge Canada
Fabian Allen was the West Indies B team’s best batsman in the Global T20 Challenge Canada. Allen averaged more than the likes of Justin Greaves, Sherfane Rutherford, Nicholas Pooran and Shamar Springer. He hit 169 runs at an average of over 40. Allen was the only West Indian batsman to average above 40 in the tournament. This included a sublime unbeaten 75 against the Edmonton Royals. After Obed McCoy picked up four wickets to limit the Royals to 155, the West Indies B teams were on the ropes reeling at 66-6. However, Fabian came in and produced a magnificent 75 (30) to reverse the course of the game and hand the West Indies the win. On top of his stellar batting performances, Allen was a handy part-time bowler. He bowled 12.3 overs in the tournament and picked up two wickets. More impressive, though, was his economy rate of below seven. Allen was one of the standout players of the tournament.
Fabian Allen: Caribbean Premier League
Despite previously being in the Jamaica Tallawah’s squad, Fabian Allen was part of the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots’ squad for the 2018 CPL. However, he was unable to break into their starting XI and spent most of the season on the bench. The likes of Brandon King, Carlos Brathwaite and Mahmudullah kept him out of the team. So, his talent was wasted in that season.
Allen has been part of the CPL for several years so you can expect him to feature in the 2019 CPL. As his career progresses it is likely that he will be given more and more opportunities to play at the highest level. It remains to see if Fabian Allen will be with the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots for the 2019 CPL, but either way let’s hope we see more of him in that tournament.
